We are an inner city church, built on biblical truth that is incarnational and grace driven, where expository preaching and teaching ministries are combined with holistic ministry to different physical, emotional, and social needs among different classes and ethnic groups in the community. Worship is to be planned, but open publicly to displays of emotion and spontaneity. It is to have a highly relational approach to its pastoral care and structure (small groups). It is to create a climate that is very caring and patient for hurting people, seeking to understand the struggles of the poor and marginalize. It is to engage in empowering and equipping laypeople for witness. We intend to be incarnational by having members of the congregation engaged in intensive long-term involvement with the people and institutions of the community, although some will choose to both live and work in the community.
